Q - question

How to save PDF/A-1a archive from CAD software AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit?

A - answer CAD applications usually contain internal functions for publishing drawing documentation to PDF format files. Additional PDF tools like Adobe Acrobat then add to this by supporting not only the standard PDF publishing format but also its archive version PDF/A, specifically PDF/A-1b.

But sometimes you may need to deliver or archive your technical documentation also in other variants of the PDF format, e.g. PDF/A-1a (incl. doc structure), PDF/A-2a, PDF/X and others.

In these cases, you can pick the PDF-XChange PRO software which contains a professional virtual printer for printing to PDF or PDF/A and also a PDF editor (text, vector and image editing, or content markup/reviews, anonymization of private data, digital signatures, sharing, form filling, etc.). Beside direct printing you can also convert existing PDFs (XChange Editor), also batch-convert them (PDF Tools). Supported PDF format variants:

  • PDF/A-1a
  • PDF/A-1b
  • PDF/A-2a
  • PDF/A-2b
  • PDF/A-2u
  • PDF/A-3a
  • PDF/A-3b
  • PDF/A-3u
  • PDF/X-1a
  • PDF/X-3
  • PDF/X-4

PDF-XChange offers a multi-lingual user interface so it is available also in English and German.
