Loading 3D models in the OBJ file format to AutoCAD.

AutoCAD does not support importing of OBJ format files by default - see CAD formats - and you will need additional software to convert OBJ->DWG.

But with the freeware LISP utility OBJ2DWG you can import simple OBJ files directly in AutoCAD. This add-on application converts meshes stored in OBJ files to AutoCAD 3D objects of the type PFace mesh. Certain limitations apply - you can convert objects only up to the maximum size of 32767 vertices, the utility will not convert possible colors, materials, smoothing groups and normals.

Download the OBJ2DWG tool from Download, load it with APPLOAD and type the command OBJ2DWG. Enter the name of .OBJ file on the prompt. After the conversion you may need to zoom to the loaded 3D model.
