When working on complex projects, you will often need to hand over a limited area of the drawing documentation to an external team member or to a cooperating company. This transfered DWG documentation usually should include also all related xrefs.

Clip DWG

Besides the XCLIP tool which only hides the surrounding areas, you can solve this operation with drawing sets and the drawing query functionality of AutoCAD Map (Civil 3D). In this way, you will give away really only the data from the selected region.

The procedure for clipping a complex drawing is described on the Civil3D blog - How to bone complex drawings (in Czech).
