Is it possible to assign an object snap to a function key?

Yes, you can add your own accelerators for this. Just open the ACAD.MNS file in your text editor and in the ACCELERATORS section add lines like:

[CONTROL+"W"]_int;

and after AutoCAD restart you can osnap to an intersection by pressing Ctrl-W keys.
