Q - question

Shape file (SHX) is missing.

A - answer Shapes in an AutoCAD DWG drawing refer to external SHX shape definition files. If this file is missing, the Open drawing command is interrupted with a prompt to enter a different SHX file.

Get complete files from the author of the drawing (incl. the missing SHX file - drawings should be transferred with eTransmit).

For possible removing (purging) of the missing shapes and references to SHX files you can use the DELSHAPE Lisp utility - see Download.
