Q - question

Suppressing the Power dimension ribbon in AutoCAD Mechanical.

A - answer AutoCAD Mechanical 2011 has changed the way of creating dimensions with the "Power dimension" command. On this command, or on dimension editing, AutoCAD activates the Power dim tab in the ribbon and you can easily edit dimensions there.

AutoCAD Mechanical 2010 and lower has used a dialog panel. If you need to use such "legacy" behaviour, you can suppress this new ribbon functionality in two ways:

  1. Set the classic pull-down menus instead of the ribbon.
  2. Set the system variable AMPOWERDIMEDITOR to 0.
