Unknown icon in an AutoCAD Civil 3D project.

A - answer My project suddenly displays this strange icon on the model screen - what does it mean? Clicking on it does not invoke any function.

This icon indicates that a level of detail (LOD) is used on a terrain surface in Civil3D. The LOD function simplifies isolines and decimates triangles on the displayed terrain model when zooming out.
