Vault 2011 error - older version of SQL Server.
A - answer When installing the Vault 2011 server, the system compliance check reports the error "An older version of SQL Server is used for an existing Vault database instance".

This problem is usually caused by Vault upgrade from an older version, where your server runs an older, no longer supported, incompatible version of SQL Server.

The list of supported versions of SQL Server for Vault server installation can be found in the Vault 2011 Readme file - the compatible versions of MS SQL are (also the Service Pack is important):

  • SQL Server 2005 Express Edition (SP3)
  • SQL Server 2005 Workgroup Edition (SP3)
  • SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition (SP3)
  • SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition (SP3)
  • SQL Server 2008 Express Edition (SP1)
  • SQL Server 2008 Standard Edition (SP1)
  • SQL Server 2008 Enterprise Edition (SP1)
Install the required SQL Service Pack. In case of problems use the Express version of SQL Server distributed with your latest version of Autodesk Vault.
