Can you be more specific?

Have you tried setting your Visual Style to "Realistic"?

What version of Autocad are you using?

If your using AutoCAD 2009 or newer you can click on the material en they put it automaticly in your materials, you than press a couple of times escape en you click on the material you just import. and attach it to your object. Press space or enter to conform this.
