i received one cad file from my friend & having thousands of line types in it. but these line types are not used in the drawing, file size is very heavy due to extra line types.. i try to purge but fail. any body can help how to remove extra line types from file.

This could be a result of the original drawing having been done in Microstation.

First.  Make sure you have installed Service Pack 1 for AutoCAD 2014.

Second.  Make sure you download and run the AutoCAD DGN Hotfix.  Start by clicking on the link below.

I never realized so many people get drawings that have Microstation content in them.

thanks again... but some drawings having xref takes lot of time but fail... more than one hour..

What gave you the idea you could run the hotfix on a drawing with xrefs?

Guess you'll have to work around the problem then.  Anything come to mind?

i tried again & my problem was solved.... actually its depend on the file having problem, some files take less time & some long time.

I created a dynamic block to read ‘Y’ coordinates in order to quickly and accurately illustrate levels on drawings - however, when I Xref the model into a layout file they read ‘0’ instead of 10.380 for example (the level from the model) This is stressing me out - please help

Aeijaz: This thread is about the purging of numerous linetype definitions from a drawing and not about dynamic blocks and xrefs.

I would not xref the dynamic block I would insert it like any other block.
