I love it when this feedback thing works. Check out this thread from the forum on the Autodesk Feedback Community:

  • On Feb 13, 2014, at 3:00 am, Johan Cantry wrote: In a 3D view I used a section box to exclude a part of a building from the analysis, but the analysis calculated everything inside but also outside the section box.

  • On Feb 13, 2014, at 6:52 am, Autodesk SW Developer/Building Energy Engineer, David Sheer wrote: Very clever use of something we thought was a risk for error. Hmmm. Our decision was to automatically reset the section box on Run Analysis, as we found folks used the section box to view the results and didn't realize that it excluded the sectioned areas on the next analysis.

  • On Feb 16, 2014, at 4:01 pm, I posted a new build for download from the Autodesk Labs technology preview project that allows the user to modify a config file that determines if the analysis is limited to the selected area or not. Is this a great process or what?

  • On Feb 21, 2014, at 1:16 am, Johan Cantry wrote: Thanks for taking our feedback into account. Section box is indeed isolating building geometry for the analysis except for the floor: after generating the results, you still see the complete floor.

For those who have yet to start experimenting with the Daylighting Analysis for Revit technology preview, you can join the project now. It's free.

  • The Daylighting Analysis plug-in for Revit uses the Autodesk 360 Rendering cloud service to perform very fast and physically accurate daylighting analyses from within Revit. The plug-in is specifically designed for architects to be able to use without learning the difference between the Perez or CIE's sky models, direct normal incident or direct horizontal radiation.

  • Join Daylighting Analysis for Revit via Autodesk Labs.

Give it a try and share your feedback: good, bad, or ugly. We'd love to hear from you at labs.revit.illuminance@autodesk.com or in the forum on the Autodesk Feedback Community site.

Refulgence is alive in the lab.
