Daylight analysis just got easier. We built a new extension for Revit to perform very fast and physically accurate daylighting analysis from within Revit 2014 and 2015 so architects can generate valid analysis results without becoming specialists. With this release of the extension we have enabled it to provide LEED IEQc8.1 2009 results for most models in less than 15 minutes. This automated feature enables more designers to enact daylight strategies and collaborate more effectively with lighting experts. The user can just specify whether to analyze the whole building or single or multiple floors, and begin the analysis. The software displays the results in-canvas and automatically generates the information needed for submission to the GBCI.

Lighting Analysis for Revit is driven by the Rendering cloud service in Autodesk 360. The Autodesk 360 Rendering engine has been validated against Radiance outputs calibrated with measurement data from the actual space. While Daylighting for LEED in the new extension is automated for greater ease of use by more practitioners, Autodesk 360 Rendering provides for more control over analysis settings for advanced electric and solar illuminance studies. Therefore, more expert users can analyze how form and material affect electric and solar lighting performance, and analyses are run directly from any Revit 3D view for almost any location, date, and sky condition.
