Topic: Importing (.ecw) in AutoCAD LT 2009Posted: 25.Aug.2008 at 07:02 |
|
Hi,
I have recently upgraded from Autodesk to AutoCAD LT 2009. I cannot get AutoCAD LT 2009 to import mapping files such as (.ecw) files or ESRI shapefiles. If these files are supported by AutoCAD LT 2009, how do I import them; and if not, what are my other options? Thanks |

The full support of mapping files (incl. ECW and SHP) is included only in AutoCAD Map 3D and Civil 3D. The limited version of AutoCAD (LT) is not suitable for mapping tasks. |

.ecw files are image files, autocad LT will not import image files, you need full cad for that. There is however a Raster Design object enabler for full cad which will enable a number of image formats, including ecw.

To import shp you need a full version of autocad and ImportShapes (free and opensource from abc autocad).
You can find it here http://www.abcautocad.it/software_autocad_en.html There is also a Raster importer with TFW support, but not ECW. For ECW try er-mapper (http://www.ermapper.com) |
