Topic: palettes in 2015 Posted: 19.Aug.2014 at 16:20 |
hi all I recently installed autocad 2015 and managed to export and import all of my tool palettes so that I can see them when I enable tool palettes. However, I can't use them! when I clink on one to drag into a drawing, when the mouse goes over model space, it just shows a black no entry sign any ideas...... anyone?

Tool palettes can be exported/imported between similar versions but not between dissimilar versions.

Hi John, I was using 2011 before . . . Surely would be able to import? Was just autocad, not lite or anything else. As I say, I can see them just can't drag and drop.

Did you bring over the image files for the tool palettes?
Paraphrased from AutoCAD Help:
"If you are not using the same AutoCAD-based product or release in which the tool palettes were created, the tools might not work properly."

I exported and saved them on the server, uninstalled 2011 (I know!) and installed 2015. I searched as wasn't sure how to do it and never saw anything re migration tools. Looks like ill just be saving them all and setting them up again.

Did you check the source file paths? Right click a block in your palette and go to properties and check the source path.

hi there, yes I checked.... I copied everything I had when I found out about the upgrade to a folder on the server - it contains a copy of everything: blocks, lisps, templates, fonts, hatches etc everything that made my life easier when I get a quiet minute ill just set them all back up..... probably take less time than trying to find a solution! thanks all for your help

When you copied everything to the server the source path changed. The folder might have the same name but the location of the folder is now different.
How I told you earlier how to check the source path, that is also where the path can be changed from. I strongly suggest you take a real close look at the source path on more time. you can simply change that path and you will be up and running like normal.
I wish you the best of luck
