NEW DESIGN FIRM LAUNCHES AND RELEASES FIRST PRODUCT

NotSoBad Design challenges you to rethink geometry with Kyube

San Francisco, CA — Today, officials announced the formation of the Bay Area’s newest design firm, NotSoBad Design. Crowds of local designers and artists waited behind red velvet ropes to catch glimpses of what many industry insiders are calling “the next big thing” in the field.

“Words can hardly capture my excitement,” said founder and Principal Designer, Sam Hobish as he addressed an eager crowd of his peers. “We’ve sacrificed sleep and time with our families to unroll our first project while at the same time, laying a foundation for a new kind of product collective here in San Francisco’s design community.”

Though the formation of NotSoBad has long been rumored, Kyube - the firm’s first product - was veiled with tremendous secrecy.

“I think Kyube really speaks to the kind of design we expect to see out of NotSoBad as it solidifies its place in the industry,” said, Robert Hoover, the firm’s VP of Narrative Exploration. “Our goal is to give consumers products that embody the ingenuity, originality and above all, the humility embodied by the firm’s founding designers.”

Today’s event follows a communication dispersed just weeks ago by Hobish, announcing that an announcement was imminent.

“Its rare that something so clandestine and yet, highly anticipated actually meets and in this case, exceeds expectations,” said Leslie Carol Roberts, Director of Design at California College of the Arts. “I have no doubt that Hobish’s work will become an essential part of all design curriculums from this point on.”

Established designers and new ones alike marveled at NotSoBad’s inaugural product, which was released during today’s event.

“Take everything you thought you knew about geometry and throw it out the door,” said industrial designer, Raffi Minasian while holding one of the Kyube prototypes. “I mean, just look at this thing. I’m just taken aback by this. Kyube really is going to change how all of us work moving forward.”

Kyube will be released in early 2015. NotSoBad Design plans to announce key hires in the coming weeks.
