Have used Solid works before but new to AutoCAD 3D, can you size parts after creating them as in Solid works or do you need to size before ?

Hello Bud, Autocad 2D can be with parameters but not AutoCAD 3D.
Only the initial solids can be controled with parameters, for example with the properties palette ( Ctrl + 1 ).
A cube can be updated easily but if you add a hole or a chamfer or anything it will turn to be modified with the 3D commands only.
We have also colleagues that are working with Solidworks and I can give indication to use models from AutoCAD to Solidworks and the contrary.

Eventually see my file : 3D SOLIDS 01.dwg right here in the site in the CAD/BIM Blocks library.
Launch a search with the file name or a part of it.
Ask for more and have a good day.
