Land Desktop 2006 on Windows 7 XP shell (how's that for starters?)

Runs OK but, trying to customize menus (just want to add an OSNAP menu to the middle mouse button) and get the message,

"The CUI file you are attempting to open is invalid.  Select a different CUI file and try again. {OK button}"

Then I get the Customize User Interface.  It lists all my customization files but there's nothing in them.  All categories show some kind of double sun icon or something but there are no commands or anything.  If I try to reload a file I'm told that it's already loaded.  If I try to use the "Transfer" function, same deal...

How can I tell which CUI file I'm attempting to open?  How do I select another?
I've checked the support file paths and such in "Options" but everything looks OK there...
Confused

Maybe you should start over.  Make one change at a time, test, if OK move on to the next change and always keep a backup of the previous one if it worked.

Too often we make wholesale changes then should a problem arise we can't pinpoint the source.

Re: finding the right file.

Since I don't use Civil 3D I'm not sure what the actual file name is but here is an example demonstrating how to find the CUIX file being used in plain old AutoCAD.  I type the following at the command line...

(findfile"acad.cuix")

...then I press the Enter key.  AutoCAD will return the exact path of the file it is using.  Looks like this:

"C:\\Users\\Connor.SKYNET\\appdata\\roaming\\autodesk\\autocad 2015\\r20.0\\enu\\sup
