Hi folks,

I am new to engineering drawing and I wanted to ask the experts, you, which are the best exercises to improve visualization.

1.- The first one I see in every book is reconstructing the 3d object from its multiview ortographic projections. It is very good exercise, the problem here is I found a lot of cad files to download, but I cannot find an organized collection of files, starting from begginer to more advanced drawings. Do you know a book with this organized multiviews? Or a website?

2.- Drawing the multiview projections from a 3d object. Good exercise too.

Do you know more exercises?

Let me know any idea to make my brain work on this subject.

Thanks!Clap

Hello jonjacson, are you talking about AutoCAD or your Catia V5 ?

If it's about Catia then it's not the good place, if it's about AutoCAD it's the good place.

If you want to know everything about AutoCAD 3D there are a lot of tutorials on the internet like CADtutorials or others that you will find by launching  a search with : AutoCAD xxxxxxxx.
Take a look at : AutoCAD 3D tutorilas by Kristen S. KURLAND.
If you don't have any knowledge about 3D it's going to be difficult without learning 2D ( my opinion ).

For me if you want to know about 3D from the beginning you will have to learn all about viewpoints and UCS.
If you want to see a 3D method eventually take a look at my file : 3D_HOOK_SIMPLE_DIN_15401_3D_METHOD.dwg here in the CAD BIM Blocks librairy it's done from 2 2D blocks to one 3D block made of solids.

And this one : 3D SOLIDS 01.dwg wich is showing the 3D basics in 7 subjects from :
-1- basic solids with parameters to -7- UCS settings for dimensions.

2D views from a 3D object are done with the command FLATSHOT to be set correctly with the good options.

Ask for more.
