Movie

Our group is half Star Trek — half Star Wars.So half of our team is very happy for the opening of the new movie, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. On the other hand, something that our whole team is excited about is the possibility for us to get our own light-sabers.

Though it's fun to pretend battle each other with light-sabers, what we really like is that Valence's design was created with Autodesk software. The light-saber's 31 colors and 240 sound effects are controlled by the user's smartphone.

  • Autodesk AutoCAD was used in the design of the polycarbonate tube (blade), blade cap, and USB-C and speaker hole positions on the model in detail.

  • Autodesk Inventor will be used to design and redesign the hilt/handle as the community of sword wielding users grow and virtually prototype new designs.

  • Autodesk Spark will be used to help fuel the 3D printing makers who want to customize the weapons' handle.

Jousting in jest is alive in the lab.
