Here is the main problem.

There are so many so-called CAD techs out there that you'll find the work to be very cutthroat.  You can be bidding for a project and quickly discover so guy from half way around the world is offering to do it at such a ridiculously low price you can't imagine how he is making a profit.

Benefits?  None.

Profits?  Scant.

Look term employment outlook?  Dismal.
