I have requirement to name any line or rectangle by custom name. To make it clear, I will exlain. I want to extract the area of about 100 rooms in a building. For each room, I want to draw a rectangle or a polyline with the name of corresponding room so that I can extract area of rectangle for corresponding room in excell sheet. In the output of excell file, I want the rectangle with the name of corresponing room.

I'd start with one of the many custom lisp routines that allows a user to obtain the area of an enclosed object.  Modify it to also include the room name.  The next step would be extract the data to a spreadsheet.
