I have read several link and tried DATALINK, XREF, and DICT, to no avail.... Help

history: I recieved a set of drawing for a huge site. I open up several drawing and have "not found" data links, excels were not send with set. I don't need the excel or data links and would like to delete the data links as part of my drawing cleanup.

But you didn't try AutoCAD Help, right?

Look up the topic: "To remove a link to an external spreadsheet".

I figured it out .... I had to go to the parent xrefs and THEN use DATALINK to delete the data links

So you really didn't need the actual Excel file which is what I surmised from the beginning.  The "link" is only a path to the file it isn't the spreadsheet file itself.
