I am an Autodesk employee today because I interviewed with Carl Bass in June 1990 to work for Ithaca Software on his HOOPS (Hierarchical Object-Oriented Picture System) platform-independent 3D graphics software package. After Ithaca Software was acquired by Autodesk in 1993, responsibility for HOOPS shifted to Tech Soft 3D. Ron Fritz is one of the founders of Tech Soft 3D and continues to take care of our HOOPS baby to this day. Here's something else that Ron is doing.

Ron and his wife, Laura, are launching a new organization called Marca Via.

When Laura and Ron held coming-of-age events for each of their three children when they were 13 years old, people enthusiastically responded to our efforts to create a rite of passage to mark the beginning of their transition from childhood to adulthood.

They were a little surprised by how much the idea of holding these events resonated with friends and family and were touched when others organized their own events. The more that they talked to people about this topic, the more they realized that there’s a real eagerness to get back to the ancient human tradition of holding important coming-of-age rituals that bring together communities, teach critical lessons, and share deep wisdom with our emerging adults.

Following the positive response to Ron's talk at TEDx Bend back in May,

Ron and Laura we were inspired to launch an effort that would help make it easy for people to bring their communities together and create impactful events during the coming of age transition. As they got started, they also were excited about the idea that this approach could also apply to other major life transitions such as getting married, having a child, going through a divorce, retiring or even facing death.

Ron and Laure are happy to announce the launch of Marca Via (meaning “mark the path” in Latin) at marca-via.com.

Thanks, Ron.
