Hi there, whilst using AutoCAD 2008, I used some blocks of trees I found on the net. Most of the blocks seem fine, however some refuse to adapt to the layer properties I impose. They are listed as on a specific layer, however they will not change colour to suit the layer, nor will they turn off with the rest of the layer.

Very frustrating as I don't really know what to search for.. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

Regards,

Freddie.

This is because they contain objects in specific layers or in specific colors (not BYLAYER or BYBLOCK). You can edit the properties with the REFEDIT command or use the SETBYLAYER command - see:

Thanks for the input and identifying my problem.. I have tried the setbylayer command.. Am still unsure if I am using it corerectly.

Type command name.. SETBYLAYER

Select objects..

Enter..

Change ByBlock to ByLayer?.... Yes..

Include blocks?.... Yes..

Correct?

I can't get these blocks to change!!!

They are still showing properties different to the rest of the layer.. They even stay switched on when the rest of the layer is off! Please help!

I think I've sorted it.. Fingers crossed.. It was more luck than judgement.. Played around with refedit and managed to get them to change..
