Dear Autocad experts everywhere. I am a new participant. My company just purchased Autocad 2009 and an HP Designjet 500 ( 24" Roll) for plotting. The HP Plotter has the network card and is plugged into a Cisco Switch. There is a dedicated new Dell Windows XP workstation running the autocad 2009 that is connected to the network. I can ping the HP from that computer and can print any Office document, or anything else. But I cannot print from the Autocad. It tells me it has an error and must shut down. I am the financial guy and just an educated user. HP says it is Autocad. Autocad says I have an HP problem. Can someone help? I would really appreciate it.

Hello,

Download the drivers form hp.com

Go to your printers and faxes. Open File -> Server properties.
Go to the tab Ports and add a port. Select Standard TCP/IP Port.

Press next in the following screen and paste your ip address. Finish en close printer ports window.

Close the print server properties. Go to printers and faxes ->  File -> Add printer. Next -> Local printer attachted ... -> Use the following port (Select your IP Number) -> Select your driver (DJ 500 from hp.com). That's it!

Good luck, having fun!
