    Posted: 06.Apr.2009 at 09:57
Hi,

I am receiving drawings from my co-workers whereby the width of certain components is drawn by them modifying the line width. This is fine for their purposes, however, I have to import these drawings into another software package as DXF files and since it does NOT appear that DXF transfers the line width I am becoming stuck!

I know that one answer would be to ask my co-workers to draw the width as a polyline rectangle, but I thought that I would firstly ask: Is there a way of converting line width data into a polyline and indeed do DXF files not transfer the line width of say a .dwg file.

Regards,
Tom

Try giving lineweight to color or layer then see if DXF export would do that.

I am sure that if you give width to polyline it won't show up after exporting to DXF.

Or you can use CTB files for plotting these files where width is assigned to colors instead of lines so you should not have problems.

Hope this helps.
