Topic: Struggle with files saved in ACAD2009 Posted: 05.May.2009 at 11:23
Hello there,
we are using AutoCAD 2007 LT in the office and that is generaly working fine. We are working closely with consultants and have to xref their drawings into ours. The engineers on one project are now working on AutoCAD 2009 and tried sending us dxf 2007 and dwg 2000 files. The dwg crashes 2007 instantly. I can open the 2007 dxf fine but after having saved it as a 2004 version (which is my standard setting to avoid conflicts with others we are sending files to) I can't open it anymore!
We desperately need to get these files to work as we need the engineer's base to work on.
Does anyone have any idea what is going wrong and how I can get around this problem?

Hello!
Autocad 2009 and 2007 are using the same file format. But I´m not sure of how it works with AutoCad LT 2007.
But if you can´t open his 2009 file, ask him to Export to Autocad instead of save as to a lower verison, but as I said it shuold work between 2009 and 2007.

Have you downloaded the object enabler or any of the Autodesk updates? Do you get a .ARX error? If so you can just hold down the return command and it will eventually open, Download any updates or patches and that should correct the problem.
