This is not an easy task. Character recognition (OCR) is never 100% reliable. Depending on the type of the text you may get good results using the OCR functionality in AutoCAD Raster Design add-on tool (first convert the lines to raster lines).

hi Vladimir Michl,
thank you for your respond. may i share my situation; the drawing is in PDF, and it can't be ocr-ed so when converted it to dwg, what happen is that it only recognized all the numbers and characters in line and arc (geometry), if they have such functions converting text to line, im sure they also can return the lines into text. principle right?so to your experience what's your suggestion to the above prob? |

In Principal you are correct. But in actual I have not come across situation where geometry lines can be converted to text. Think practicaly how would software recognize what language you have written text. I would be surprised if you find something like this. And also I would be interested to see when you find. Tom |

I think you will need to have somebody retype the text in AutoCAD. Or, if you have Adobe Acrobat, you can select the text and copy it, then paste it into the AutoCAD file. But nothing automatic.
