We have one user on our system that can't open drawing files every other user can. Whenever he opens a set of drawings, he gets a message "fatal error, unhandled violation access...". Does anyone know what this could be as every other user can open these files with no problems. He is running vista & has tried to open the files in AutoCAD 2009 & 2010 & the drawings are saved at format 2000.

Hi,
we had similar issue in our office few months ago. As I had no time looking for cause, I unistalled Autocad and cleaned all the files associated with it (including regiter) and installed it back again. It's been working since. Dont forget to install all the patches and updates for ur Autocad from autodesks website.

regards
Karol

If this is the only AutoCAD installed on Vista, there may be something to do with Vista User Accounts Control, I think you may be interested in trying this and decide if to re-install AutoCAD.

1. Go to "Control Panel > User Accounts and Family Safety > User Accounts";

2. Find "Turn User Account Control On or off" and turn off the user account control.

After the UAC is disabled, try to open your drawing and see if there is still the same error message.

I'm not sure if this works but it worth a try.

If you unload the DLL in AutoCAD, does it still report error? If it stops crashes, it is the compatible issue with the Dll and AutoCAD, contact LDassistant and call for compatible package.

Command: Menuload
Can you find the corresponding item(LDassistant) in it? If there it is, click "unload".
