I have a license question to ACAD but not only ACAD. We are using floating licenses of ACAD2005 and Mechanical 2005. Now some of these licenses will be upgraded to the version 2008.
Can we use the same license server for both the 2005 and 2008 versions? Or should we setup two different servers?

One more problem: some operators leave their PC with ACAD session running overnight and the network licenses are blocked; how can I "kick" them off the server quickly?

Thank you

You can use a single Autodesk license server (AdLM) for both the 2005 and 2008 versions. Just install and use the newest version of AdLM from all the served versions (in this case - the FlexLM server from the ACAD2008 DVD).

You can use the TIMEOUT option available in newer AutoCAD versions (FlexLM versions). This will terminate inactive sessions automatically. You can also use our LogOff utility for this (client-based, works also in older versions).

To get a statistics and overview of consumed floating licenses, consider a tool like e.g. the License Statistics from X-Formation.
