    Posted: 24.Aug.2009 at 19:43
Greetings!!

I want to plot all my drawings to the same settings, for example, monochrome, centered, best fit, ect.

But each time I open a drawing (idw), these settings seem to default on a seemingly random basis.

How can I set up these (or any, for that matter) parameters to defualt in any, and all idw files upon plotting?

Basically its getting annoying having to check that they are right each time, time and again, before plotting.

Any suggestions would be welcome!!

I think you can create a template with all these configurations, because when you open it, all pre settings already are there.

How would you go about setting up this 'template'?

The only options in the print window I see are:

printer, printer options
comment, (a click box)print to file
print range
number of copies

Thats it. Its not like Autocad where a template would make sense...

Sorry i didn`t understand well.

Searching for a sollution, I found it:

"Here are two ways to get monchrome output for Inventor drawing files.

1. In AutoCAD, File | Page Setup Manager | Modify, Click on Properties next
to the printer name. On the Device and Document Settings tab, select the
"Custom Properties" line and click the Custom Properties button below. See
if your printer supports a black and white mode.

2. CONVERTCTB, select monochrome.ctb, save it as monochrome.stb (or use a
new name). You now have a named plot style file, you only need to do this
once. For each Inventor drawing you open, CONVERTPSTYLES, OK, select the stb
file from the previous step. Now go to Page Setup and select the .stb file.
You will now print in monochrome. This change is persistent, you can
roundtrip the drawing in Inventor and the changes should stay in effect on
the AutoCAD side. If you add new layers you may need to set the plot style
to Style_1 if it does not happen automatically."

I see what thats for. Thats for 'inventor drawing files' aka an autocad drawing created by inventor.

What I need is to set up default settings within inventor for idw files, not dwg's. inventor does not use .stb or .ctb plot styles.

Close, but no cigar, lol.
Thanks though, every bit of information I get helps!

Anyone elese? C'mon, this cant be that hard!!
