Hi,
I have my home plans in DWG and I wanted to know if there's a software that can read the DWG file and from that to extrude the lines to make it 3D like Sketchup.

Tnx.
Lio

Hi Krish,
Thanks for your reply.
I downloaded version 7.1 and there was no 3d model in the import menu.
I tried all option but it didn't even recognized the dwg file.
Any suggestions?
tnx

dear shnik....

I think you may not have the full version or the version is not allowing such operations....

which version of CAD r u working on?
please save as the file in lower file format....like 'Auto CAD 2000/LT'....thn try again...
hope it will work...
otherwise....look up for the full versions of sketch up(if possible 6.0).......trust me...its the most swift easier light weight 3d software so far I have used......

best of luk....
any output.........dont forget to reply

Hi,
I don't have Autocad, I got the plans from my architect, and I wanted to try to make it 3D so I can see my future home in "real".

I will download ver. 6 and will return to report.
tnx again!
Wink

OK, downloaded the PRO version and for the first time the plan is up. tnx!
now, for some reason, the lines that connects the frame of the house seems to be unconnected, so when i try to extrude to create a wall it doesn't allow, maybe because there's no connection between them. how can it happen?

tnx!

Ok, second update for this morning Wink
I found this http://sketchup.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=86648 - video how to import and work with dwg on sketchup.
now i need to figure it out!Ouch

will report later.
tnx a lot.
