Topic: Concatenate FieldPosted: 26.Nov.2009 at 06:55 |

Hello to everyone!
If somebody could help me using the "field" features in AutoCAD 2008.
I've been using this features in preparing my sheet since it auto update numbering in sheets.
What I don't know in this features is how to concatenate two different fileds.
Example
filed1=CurrentSheetNumber
field2=CurrentSheetSetProjectNumber
I was wondering how to concatenate these field???? using a single field??
Can anybody who are expert in this forum help me get the answer????
Please eMail me: transco.cvp@hotmail.com
thanks in advance to anybody who can help me

Do you really need it as a single field? You can just use two different fields in a single MText - so you can concatenate fields quite naturally.

Ok so how am I going to do it???don't have Idea how to do it in MText
The idea of why I do need to concatenate is something to do with my auto project ID numbering of my drawings. if I dont do concatenate the two field will overlap.
sample:
if field1=xwy
and field2=01
the expected concatenate should be xwy01
if i change the value of field1 to xwyz
and the two field is not concatenated then the result is
z will overlap with 0's
my problems is difinitely just so simple but I couldn't think of how to do it
The idea you've suggested I havent tried that yet and don't know how to do it
thanks for your advice anyway

You can just use the "Insert field" function (right-click) twice in a single MText (MText editor). Alternatively you can put together two separate fields - one right-aligned and one left-aligned -- they will form a single line of text. |
