Topic: Acad Versions Posted: 29.Jan.2010 at 03:08 |
I have AutoCad2000, and would like to be able to download Acad2007 and 2009 Drawings in DWG format. Is this possible? If so, what do I need to accomplish it?
On an aside, I also have an old version of Drafix Cad, which I like very much. I can save drawings in AutoCad format, but when I open them in Autocad there are problems. Any one recommend a utility to open Drafix drawings in Autocad2000?

No problem downloading, but problem opening them in 2000 version :)
newer versions can be converted to older, free Autodesk download:
Don't knpw about Drafix, but most likely will need to fix them from Drafix when exporting to dxf(?). What sort of problems?

Thanks for the link. I will save drawings in Drafix, and when I open them in Autocad, they are so dark I can barely see them on the screen. I am a novice at all this stuff, perhaps you can tell me, how can I copy items and paste them in a different color? Or how can I select all items of one color and change them to another? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks again for the link, will try it now.

Yeah, I have tried to install that link before. I can download it, but the installation always hits a dead end. A screen comes up that asks what to install, I check the DWG TrueView (only one available), then it does nothing, no tab to continue on. Very frustrating.

Regarding changing color of objects- Go into the layer manager ("layer" command), change color of layers. If objects have a set color rather than "bylayer", then you'd have to change their color using the "chprop" command.
Don't know why you're having installation problems.

I would suggest that whoever your getting those 07 and 09 files just tell the fool giving them to you to downgrade them to R12.DXF. Problem solved. No downloading.
You might even be able to open dxf's in Drafix, but im not familiar with that program.

Although I use '05 and '07, I always save to AutoCAD 2000.
This is at the request of many of my clients.
I also post here in 2000 so I avoid problems.
'05 is on my laptop, '07 is on my desktop work station.
I have asked clients using other CAD programs to save as a *.dwg file for email. I see a lot of junque that I have to clean up when I open their files; i.e.: fonts, dimensions, all kinds of "stuff." Some companies are just set in their ways and don't want to change to AutoDesk products.
