Hello, there to everybody!
Please amend this topic, if I opened a new thread which already exists, but I searched a lot the forum and I didn't found anything similar. So this is my question: I wondering if there is any possibility to convert automatically a specific pattern of lines, polylines, circles etc. to block. Let's say, I have a symbol of a light bulb (made from a circle with two cross lines inside) and I want to convert all these symbols in the drawing (which have the same dimensions) to a block named "bulb". I am asking to much from this powerful software. Is it possible? |

I am not sure if I understand this correctly - but isn't it something which does the standard
BLOCK command?

Let me explain this better. It is about a drawing which has let's say 428 symbols made from lines and circles. Another 100 symbols made from another circles, lines and/or polylines I was wondering if there is any method to scan the entire drawing for the similar symbols (based on a reference) and convert these symbols (group of lines and circles) into blocks. For example above, two different blocks converted from two type of symbols made from primitive objects.

I think I understood you Ok. Kind of like the reverse of exploding a group of blocks. Find the groups (not AutoCAD "group") of objects matching a reference group; convert the found matching groups to a block insert at the appropriate scale, rotation, layer.
This would be difficult operation to program to be all-encompassing, it would have to scan the entier drawing database for matching entities, then check to see if there were surrounding entities, and whether they hasd the exact same orientations. .... I haven't heard of AutoCAD or some add-on with that capability.

Indeed, it looks difficult. I have to blame the designer who worked a lot to make these drawings, but haven't in his mind to use blocks. It was much more easier for me to count the objects... I will go straight and I do the old fashion: count the symbols on the paper, or I will check if
DATAEXTRACTION command will help me (maybe the lines and the circles in the symbols are unique like dimensions, area etc).
Thank you anyway! |
