I would suggest to check your layer properties manager.

I have checked my layer manager all line types are set as default. There are no layers or linetypes set up with lineweights

If its all set at default, maybe you want to try to play with the colors/lineweights and a varible called 'ltscale', which will change the scale of lines displayed. Hope that helps, but youve most likely already done that...
