-delete all layer filters ("filters" command)
-delete all/most scale lists, use the "-scalelistedit" command (note the hyphen)
-delete registered applications with the "-purge" command (note the hyphen)
-delete all objects (ha, kidding)

Well the delete all objects option worked great as for all the others it took my file from 8,510 KB to 8,437 KB.

 Or use PURGE Command.

I know that this probably sound pretentious, but 18 000 kb is not big in my world.  I work in 3D and my average file sizes range from 20 mB all the way through to 70 mB.  If you are battling with that file size your system must be below or at minimum spec.

That said, there are ways to reduce file size other than already mentioned.  Avoid unneccessary detail, i.e. if you draw a pipeline, chuck the bolts, nuts, washers and gaskets and make the pipe soled (nobody worries about the inside of a pipe anyway).  Only use fillet and chamferring if you absolutely must.  Keep your drawings / 3d models as simple as possible. Convey the required message, nothing more, nothing less!  Remember that every bit of detail that makes the drawing look nice = memory and performance!

Sorry for preaching like this, but I go through this with our junior designers all the time.  I actually make them draw the same thing on a piece of paper, and ask them to ditch any detail that is not required.....amazing how their drawings all of a sudden becomes so much clearer and "lighter"...

Have a great day!

maybe you can try like this

step 1

in your current file.. move all drawing.. and open all layer.. delete all object that you dont need. and save

step 2

copy all object and paste in new drawing.....

then save, purge.. then you will see.. all layer that you don't need not show..

check you file size... it will be lower than before
