You can now use the free 2D & 3D home design software Autodesk Homestyler online in the cloud. This project was initially the Autodesk Labs Project Dragonfly and has now graduated from the Autodesk Labs technology preview environment to an Autodesk official product in beta. This is a great solution to do initial planning or layout of home design.

It would also be ideal to turn your significant other loose on re-arranging the furniture digitally before you have to physically move it multiple times. Perhaps it could be a new acronym like the Building Information Modeling BIM or DP Digital Prototyping, how about “DFP” Digital Furniture Placement. ;-)
