I,m new to 3dmax 2011, my previous version i,m using is 3dmax 2009, when i started using 2011, when i render,everything is black, no shadow effects on lightings,can somebody help me how to correct the settings?

Open a new file and Merge your current scene into the new file. This should solve the problem. Post back if the problem persists.
