This month's free plugin was written by Manager of DevTech Americas, Stephen Preston, based on a suggestion by Shaan Hurley. DimensionPatrol highlights dimensions in a drawing for which the user has customized the dimension text. These are dimensions that may not display the correct size of they entity they are attached to if the drawing is edited. Potentially errant dimensions are highlighted by drawing a colored rectangle behind the dimension. Free Download of DimensionPatrol for AutoCAD DimensionPatrol has been tested with AutoCAD 2010 onwards. A pre-built version of the plugin is provided that works on 32- and 64-bit Windows systems. Although the plugin has not been tested with all AutoCAD-based products, it should work. The source code has been provided as a Visual Studio 2008 project containing VB.NET code (not required to run the plugin). You can use this add-on as-is or extend it to meet your own needs. Let us know what you think at labs.plugins@autodesk.com. Plugging away at the plugins is alive in the lab.
