My first thought: get more memory.
I used to get that error operating Civil 3D/AutoCAD 2010 on my old system with 3.5GB Ram, Windows XP. But since upgrading to Windows 7 with 12GB Ram I never have that problem.
What we used to do to deal with that issue was to run only AutoCAD whenever possible and to restart our systems frequently throughout the day to dump the memory.
As you're working in AutoCAD the program is constantly saving little bits of information on your computer which takes up space from your RAM, and as you continue to work throughout the day the reserve of RAM your system has to draw on to operate the program slowly reduces untill you have no memory available and the program crashes on you. When that happens, restart your computer system.
If it keeps happening, tell your bosses that you NEED MORE RAM!

But if you're on a 32 bit operating system, you can't go with more than 4GB RAM. In order to install and use more than 4GB, you will need to be on a 64 bit operating system. That's why I asked for the full system specs.

You are correct sir, I neglected to mention that part. Thats really the main reason to go to 64-bit, all the extra RAM you can utilize.
