Hi my first post. I am using autocad lt 2011. When I double click on horizontal text to edit it, it changes axis
 and rotates through 90 deg to become vertical and stays that way?!

Have you tried selecting the text in TEXTEDIT and then changing the text style?

maybe you can try MTEXT command
a engineer working China now,love learn many CAD programs :)
