I don't normally enjoy albums that are popular, but for some reason I like Teenage Dream by Katy Perry. When I listen to it, it reminds me of a variety of styles I have heard before. In this case, that's a good thing. For example, "Firework" could be a song on any Natasha Beddingfield album. "Hummingbird Heartbeat" could be on any Corrs album. "Peacock" is much like Gwen Stefani's "Hollaback Girl." "Last Friday Night" has a very Sheryl Crow intro. Many times I hear vocal stylings similar to Christina Aguilera ("Not Like the Movies") or Shania Twain ("The One That Got Away"). Katy Perry's voice is sometimes synthetically processed like Imogen Heap on her Speak for Yourself album ("E.T." and "Who Am I Living For"). So odd as this sounds, I would actually recommend this up tempo album for listening to when doing yard work or exercising. Go to the original post... |
