AutoCAD WSAfter the initial flood of new users on Thursday after the launch we have now scaled for performance and the crazy loads. AutoCAD WS  is definitely a very popular service and product. The AutoCAD WS Team will be in San Francisco holding some customer meetings this week. See their AutoCAD WS Team blog for more details: http://www.autocadws.com/blog.

The team provides us with an update, some stats, and some user feedback.

“Things are working much better now. Users may experience some disconnections when working on the iPhone/ iPad app but we’ve reduced it in about 95% of the cases. The Application servers we're scaled during the weekend to meet the demand. Another set of optimizations and fixes we're deployed today.

  • AutoCAD WS users are coming from the US, China, Europe to Australia and most places in between.
  • During the first 4 days we've had over 200,000 downloads for AutoCAD WS Mobile  from iTunes.
  • Over 100,00 new AutoCAD WS accounts were opened this week,
  • Tens of thousands of drawings were uploaded using the web interface or AutoCAD WS Plugin.
  • 10% of new drawings were shared with other users.

Here are some nice feedback:

"I purchased a second iPad today just to view shop drawings!!!
But what about paper-space items?
I also cannot wait for the Mac version of AutoCAD! then I can ditch my PC work station...!"

“Been waiting for this app to show up - justified my iPad purchaseâ€

“Autodesk! I'm amazed by Autodesk ws app! It's really versatile and powerful for it to be on the phone! I love AutoCAD and now I have it everywhere! I would love some new features like the ones on your blog! Saving from mail that would be amazing. Offline work would be great! Some 3D would be well received! Thank you again for your work on Autodesk WS it's really useful.â€

“Thanks for give us a new way to see and make our drawings thanksâ€

“Sir - This is what I wanted from 2006â€

“My students have been uploading assignments and it is working out great. Now i can check their work on my ipad anywhere I amâ€

"I feel like I'm living in the future with this app.

Now all I need is to connect this to a GPS when working in the field. Thank you!"

“The more I use this, the more I like it.
A superb app. with all the basic functionality that I need in the field.
Making this App free was a masterstroke.
I hope that you can always keep this entry level of functionality as a free App.
Well doneâ€

“In addition to being a huge technical accomplishment, this is humungous news !!!
This is the enterprise - big time!â€

So now the AutoCAD WS Servers are daring you to throw all the usage you can at it.Give it a try, and please spread the news.

Cheers,
Shaan
