I'm new at using autocad. I've run into a problem of when trying to select an object. There is a lag time of 15-20 seconds when I try to select an object. I do have 8 xreffed structural grids and also 8 separate base plans on the grids. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to alleviate this problem?

Older AutoCAD versions may be slow when xrefs contain texts in TrueType fonts - try to change your text styles to use SHX fonts.
