    Posted: 19.Oct.2010 at 12:35
Hi,

I have a large STL model (approx 15 mb) from a 3D scanning of an item.

I would like to convert this into an autocad-usable format.

Since this is a one-time thing, I would like to avoid buying anything if possible.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Some error occurs, it seems that my file is too large (15 mb).

That's odd. It says it will accept a file size up to 20mb.
What does the error say?

You can download a trial version of Sycode's stl import for Autocad plug-in. It's good for 10 days or 10 runs, so you can use it and then delete it. You can download it here: http://www.sycode.com/products/stl_import_ac/index.htm

Windows-only, I believe.

Can you please send me the complaining file over e-mail or dropfile (zipped)?

It seems to be some specific problem of the upload component. The supplied file converts fine on our test server - creating a hefty 99MB DXF file. We will look into this.

I see. Thanks.

Any chance that you could dump the 99 DXF file somewhere? Like rapidshare, or such?
