I've been drawing in AutoCAD for a year or two now, since '89, and I recently had problems with Windows 7.

I stumbled on to DraftSight and for a FREE Software, it's pretty amazing, problem is I am having trouble with Model Space vs. Paper Space, in DraftSight Model vs. Sheet (Layout).

I can't seem to change from an Aerial View to another view, such as Front View.  It works fine in Model Space, just not in Sheet Space.

Help Please!

Sheet Space would be the equivalent of looking at a sheet of paper.  There should only be one view.  Front, top, side, etc. views really refer to the objects back in model space.

Thank you for the swift reply John.

But that's what's wrong, it's not working correctly and all of the documentation I can find on the software is not much more help than the embedded help file included in the software....vague and verbose.

All I can get is the Arial View to show up in Paper Space, no other views, even though the software works very much like AutoCAD, I must be doing something wrong.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your problem.

While in paper space, you make a viewport active, and you try to change from, for example, a top view to a side view it won't let you make the change?  Is the viewport display locked by any chance?

Correct, and the viewport is unlocked.  I have verified it using Properties.

I downloaded, installed and took a quick look at DraftSight.  It is a 2D only CAD program which leaves me wondering about your question re: changing view.  Since it isn't a 3D program all one can get is flat views of whatever they drew in model space.

Can you post your drawing?  I'd like to see it using my version of DraftSight.

How many viewports did you set up in your drawing?
