Topic: Isometric in viewport Posted: 16.May.2011 at 15:13 |
Hi, I have just created my first isometric drawing for a schematic services layout fo a small building. I normally work purely in 2D. I opened up a layout and the image is 2D. How do I make it appear in Iso in the viewport. I need to get this drawing out today and don't have long left.
cheers, Smudger

Is the model space drawing 2D or 3D?
Have you tried reorienting your UCS?

Hi John, model space is 3d. No idea what you mean about the UCS. Never done 3d before. Cheers.

In paper space you must change the active view to SW, NW, NE, SE Isometric depending on the view you prefer. The viewport must be acvtive meaning you must doubleclick in the viewport you created. Fom there if you want to customize the angle of the view you can use 3DFORBIT
These options are on the VIEW Tab.

Thats what I needed, thanks. I didn't realise I needed to change the view in the veiwport as well as in model space. You may have saved my life! I would still love to learn to use some 3D and iso stuff properly though.

How did you draw in model space in 3D and not have to manipulate the UCS?

In all honesty John, I have no idea! Anyway, changing the view in the viewport has been a great help, so I'll take a better look tomorrow and hopefully get it cracked.
cheers. S

Maybe you are getting a 2D isometric mixed up with a true 3D drawing.
If it is truly 3D you should be able to view it from any angle plus the top, bottom, and sides. Can you?
