Shaan in 3D Automatically using the FREE Autodesk Project PhotoflyToday the free technology preview of the second release of Project Photofly was made available for free in a  download from Autodesk Labs http://www.autodesk.com/photofly. With all of the excitement last week about Project Photofly v2 before we even released, I would predict the servers will be very busy. Scott Sheppard also posted over at the It’s Alive in the Lab Blog http://autode.sk/iJuaUA.

What is Project Photofly?

Autodesk Project Photofly can automatically convert your standard digital photos of an object or scene into a 3D model. You first load your photos into the Project Photofly Photo Scene Editor then upload them to use the power of cloud computing to do all the intensive graphics calculations then download them back to your local computer.

A few of the big new features in this second release beyond performance and user interface changes are the addition of 3D textured mesh creation, more file export options such as high density point cloud LAS export, OBJ and automatic creation and the ability to export animations.
