Topic: Error un command LAYMRG cad 2008 Posted: 05.Aug.2011 at 02:38 |
Hi!
I´m using an 2008 cad at work, and after I use the command LAYMRG I can´t save the drawing any more. If I use the UNDO command it lets me save it again. Does anyone knows why this happens? I use the same version at home and this never happened to me before.
Thanks!

That is indeed a strange one.
First I would Purge the drawing using the command line version of purge which looks like this -purge. Purge just the Regapps. Then run it a second time but purge "All". Second I would run an Audit on the drawing and tell AutoCAD you want to fix all errors. Finally, save the drawing.
Now try the LAYMRG command. What happens?

I can´t try it ´till monday ´cause this happens at work, but I think it´s not a drawing problem but a program problem, because it happens with all the drawings I´ve tried to use the command to.
The Purge command and the Audit or Recover command clean and repare or fix problems within a drawing, and this seems to be a problem outside it.
Besides, I asked to another person at the office to use the same command (we share the same version of Autocad) and it happed the same. I think it must be some problem of the version of cad we are using, and I´ve decided to install another newer (2009).
I´ll try what you suggest me thoug, just to see what happens, then I´ll let you know.
Thanks a lot!

If you think it is a program problem then first try the REPAIR option. If that does not fix the problem you may have to do a clean uninstall (as per AutoDesk recommendations) then a new install. Directions can be found at the AutoDesk website.

The REPAIR option will attempt to fix a fault in the program that might be due to a bad install. Depending on your version of Windows it is usually found in Add/Remove Programs as part of the installed program.
What version of Windows are you using?

At work I´m using Windows XP. As I have the same Windows at home, I tried to find the Repair option by going to "Add or Remove Programs" at Control Panel , but there it only shows me Change or Remove. Where does de Repair option suppose to show?
Excuse me if I don´t quite express myself very well, as I´m not an english native language person. I understand everything you tell me to do thoug, and I appreciate very much the time you spend trying to help other people with cad problems, you know a lot of this stuff!
Thanks again!

Click on the Change/Remove option button. This will force the AutoCAD installation option to open in "maintenance" mode. You'll be given two options: Repair and Reinstall. They are...
Repair My <AutoCAD>
Installation. This option replaces all registry entries
that AutoCAD initially installed and restores AutoCAD to its default
state. If you are missing AutoCAD files, use this option.
Reinstall My <AutoCAD>
Installation. This option repairs the registry and reinstalls
all files from the original installation. Use this option if the Repair
My <AutoCAD> Installation option does not solve the problem.
Choose the REPAIR OPTION first. See if that fixes the problem.
You express yourself well enough for me to understand you so there is no need to apologize.
I try to help to the best of my ability. There are people on this forum and elsewhere who know a lot more than I do. I benefited from their knowledge and now I am repaying the debt I owe them by passing it along to you.

John,
I can´t try it because I don´t have the Administrator clue, I´ll let you know as soon as the system staff take care of my PC, which I hope I´ll be soon!
Thanks again.
